Always feel supported when I need it the most, through the ups and downs, also support for my children has been great for them, much needed.
Out There – Supporting Families of Prisoners is a Manchester-based registered charity offering free, confidential emotional and practical support to families impacted by the imprisonment of a loved one across Greater Manchester.
Our services include one-to-one telephone support, home visits, transport assistance for visits to prisoners, help with maintaining family ties, referrals to welfare and other specialist support agencies, and support designed specifically for children whose family member is in prison
We also organise opportunities for families to meet others in similar situations, family-days to reduce isolation and improve wellbeing.

What People Think About Us
Always there for me and they supported my family above and beyond I couldn’t be more grateful for what they have done for us.
The team have made such a difference for me in a most difficult year. I don’t know how I would have found my way through the machinations of being a mother on the outside. It’s a lonely and scary place to find myself but the Out There Team have given me regular calls and been a source of strength and valuable information.
